Sorry
Sorry I have not been posting recently. Interwebs failure, one way ticket to frown town.
Donations
Also I donated a lot of fabrics. Anyone who would like to donate old fabrics or clothing to be used in this project can come in and drop it off here. Free bottle of Sea Baby bubbles!
Handmade
Yesterday a woman I had been conversing with over e-mail came in and brought me this quilt and told me more about her new project called the Carrizo Project. "The Carrizo project is teaching women to sew in Honduras. The women can attend a free sewing school to make baby/ lap blankets on donated machines with repurposed fabric, discarded needles and thread"
Please read more at www.carrizoproject.org
Ok so it's got all the bells for me. Handmade, quilts, teaching a new skill, using repurposed and recycled objects and Moms! Lot's of Moms! Yup. I love it.
This is one of the first, the sewing is not technically perfect but they are learning and you know what...Shhh I kind of like things with a bit of imperfection.
I will be selling them in the shop, so far this is the only one but we will be getting more in the Fall. I think maybe this is the sort of thing memories are made from.
Handmade
As you all know I am a huge supporter of all things handmade. It supports our communities our families and our children. Making, buying and giving things that are made with love with someone's own hand and unique creativity are original and treasured forever. My Grandmother bought I think about 15 of these beautiful quilts in the 1950's in Nantucket in anticipation of grandchildren and great grandchildren to be. I have had mine all my life, my booboos tears and laughter are all over it. When she presented one to me at my baby shower for Cosima. I was and still am so moved by it and I know Cosima will always treasure her quilt from her great grandmother who dreamed of her so many years ago, just as I do.
This brings us to my next post.

Reflections
I remember napping on the beach just as you are now my love. Total peace. Papa's old army blanket so soft and cool under the umbrella, my own little world. The sounds of the waves crashing, children laughing, your voices surrounded me, those I love and loved. A fine day at the beach with family is truly heaven on earth.
Mosher
It was an AMAZING Day at Good Harbor Beach, salty, sandy and sleepy. The water is warm the sun is out and the living is good!
I forgot my camera so this is a beautiful painting by my Dad, Donald Mosher of Good Harbor. You can see more at www.moshergallery.com

"Small and Sweet.
My Little Girl so small and sweet,
Those little hands and little feet.
Everyday I watch you grow,
You teach me everything I know"

Things best not to do
Cosima tried to put a cheerio in her nose today. She watched herself in the mirror trying it out. Things that are best not to do.
I was forced to tell a sad tale of long, long ago when I was a wee sprig much like you daughter. When I too experimented with nasal inserting food science but my food of choice was a raisin a sticky brown raisin that would not for the efforts of the entire block become dislodged. No amount of incantations or magical tweezer efforts could de-raisin me and I was forced to go to THE HOSPITAL where there are DOCTORS and doctoring going on and bright lights and needles and raisin removing devices and it was oh so SCARY! I lived to tell the tale of course, perhaps for this very moment, to be your Mom and teach you that there are some things that are best not to do.
